Consultations and Appointments
After you’ve chosen an artist you’d like to work with, email us for contact information or contact them directly to set up an initial consultation. In preparation for your consultation, please bring any reference materials or photos to show your artist. If you don’t have any reference that’s no problem, we’re happy to brainstorm with you. Knowing where you want your tattoo is important
because designs are drawn differently to fit different parts of the body. We do take a drawing deposit that will come off the final price of your tattoo. The deposit amounts vary depending on the size and complexity of your design.
We require a non-refundable design and scheduling fee for a drawing or appointment. To secure the design fee from
being forfeited you must call 48 hours in advance to cancel the appointment. Any drawings left over 60 days without an appointment made will also lose design fee. The design fee will count toward the total cost of the tattoo and covers the first two art revisions; any revisions after the second revision will
require an additional design fee.
Changing an appointment 48 hours prior to a scheduled
appointment is acceptable (no penalty fee). Changing ideas on drawing from one design to a completely different idea will be charged a drawing fee. Fee varies from design to design.
How to Judge a Portfolio
It’s important to find an artist whose style of work you like and the first step is to look at the artist’s portfolio. Not only are you looking for images you can relate to, but you also have to be aware of the quality of the tattoo itself.
Seeing clean crisp lines, smooth shading and solid color are very important when looking at an artist’s work. It’s always good to see photos of tattoos that have fully healed in someone’s portfolio. A healed tattoo is what you’ll be living with and you want to make sure it looks its best after it is fully healed and settled into your skin.
Tattoo Aftercare
Leave the bandage on overnight
Remove the bandage and wash the tattoo with soap, warm water and clean hands. Blot dry.
Apply a thin coat of Lubriderm lotion 2 – 3 times a day until your tattoo is healed.
Wash your new tattoo once a day. Avoid soaking in water and exposure to sun until tattoo is healed.
Do not pick your tattoo. Let the flakes come off by themselves.
Use sunblock for protection from fading only after your tattoo is fully healed.
Average healing time is 1-2 weeks.

Sterilization
Flatiron Tattoo uses a top-of-the-line Midmark M9 digital autoclave. All reusable instruments are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before being run through our autoclave. Every cycle contains an individual test strip as well as a test code on each individual sterilizer bag to show that proper sterilization has occurred. By law we are required to run a spore sample test monthly and to keep a log of all of our results to ensure proper sterilization has occurred. All of our tattoo needles are brand new and single use. Feel free to ask us any question you may have about our sterilization procedures.
